DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham man is being held without bond after he strangled and raped a woman he knew after kidnapping her, police said Tuesday night.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested Randall Lee Bass, 33, of Durham at an apartment on Falls Pointe Drive in Durham on Tuesday, police said.
Bass was wanted after police responded to a kidnapping call last Wednesday, May 11.
“A female told officers that a man known to her, identified as Bass, kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her,” Kammie Michael, Durham Police spokeswoman, said in an email.
Bass also took the woman’s car and punched her repeatedly during the ordeal, which happened in Durham, police said.
Bass faces charges of assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault on a female, common-law robbery, communicating threats, first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and habitual misdemeanor assault, Michael said.
Bass is being held without bond in Durham County Jail.
