Police chief at small NC town faces DWI charges

BAILEY, N.C. (WNCN) – The chief of police in Bailey is facing driving while impaired charges.

Bailey is a small town located in Nash County.


John Arthur Ennis, 31, of Knightdale, was arrested in Knightdale Monday. The Highway Patrol said that Monday around 7:20 p.m., they found Ennis at a car that had overturned on Robertson Road. The Patrol said the car ran off the right side of the road and the driver overcorrected. The car flipped over and then came to rest upright.

Mayor Timothy Johnson said the town is aware that Ennis faces the charges. He said Ennis’ status with the department is being evaluated and Johnson will meet with the town attorney in a closed session Wednesday.
