CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – Representatives from the English Premier League team West Ham United visited WakeMed Soccer Park ahead of their game against the Carolina RailHawks.
West Ham officials toured the facility and came away very impressed on the maintenance of the facilities and the pitch.
“We know that soccer in this country is booming it’s a fantastic growth sport on a huge trajectory and we want to capitalize on that as a premier team so by bringing the love experience of a premier team over to a country like this it allows fans to touch and feel the game,” said Felicity Barnard, commercial director for West Ham United.
The exhibition game between West Ham United and the RailHawks is scheduled for July 12 at 8 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
West Ham United will be the first-ever English Premier League team to play in the Triangle.
Pre-sale tickets are available now while all other general admission tickets go on sale May 23.
RailHawks officials encourage fans to get to the stadium early on game day. Tailgating will be permitted before the match.
