RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The match ups for the 2016 ACC/Big Ten Challenge have been announced.
Indiana will get a rematch with North Carolina Nov. 30 in Bloomington.
The Tar Heels absolutely crushed the Hoosiers in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. In the Sweet 16, UNC sent Indiana home with 101-86 trouncing.
Duke is scheduled to play Tom Izzo and Michigan State in Durham Nov. 29. The Spartans ended their 2015-16 campaign on a sour note and sent brackets across the country up in smoke. No. 2 Michigan State lost to No. 15 Middle Tennessee in the First Round.
Duke has one of the highest rated incoming freshman classes in the country. Recently, top-rated center Marques Bolton committed to the Blue Devils, cementing Duke’s position at the top of 2016 recruiting classes.
N.C. State is slated to play at Illinois Nov. 29.
How good will the Wolfpack be in 2016-17? No one knows.
On May 2, things looked bleak for the Pack. Cat Barber had previously signed with an agent and the Martin twins had already announced their desire to leave Raleigh. Then an ESPN reporter tweeted that Abdul Malik Abu was “seriously considering transferring or hiring an agent.”
But head coach Mark Gottfried appeared to save the sinking N.C. State ship when he added a Turkish 7-footer following another off season of turbulence. Abu also announced he would return to school.
Neither the Wolfpack nor the Illini made the NCAA Tournament in 2016.
