DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Florida State rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat N.C. State 7-3 in the opening round of pool play in the ACC Baseball Tournament at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Wednesday afternoon.
The Seminoles broke a 3-3 tied with four runs in the eighth to advance in Pool A to play Georgia Tech Thursday afternoon. The Wolfpack, which got single runs in the second, third and fourth innings, plays No. 1 seed Miami Thursday night.
FSU’s John Sansone hit a solo homer to put the Seminoles up 1-0 but N.C. State’s Brock Deatherage stole home in the second to tie it.
In the second, the Wolfpack took the lead when Evan Mendoza doubled and later scored on a ground out.
Still up 3-1 in the sixth, the Pack surrendered a pair of runs when FSU’s Dylan Busby singled to make it 3-3.
In the four-run eighth, the Seminoles got a two-run single off the bat of leadoff hitter Taylor Walls.
