FBI looking for possible victims of child sex abuse after arrest of Lillington man

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with North Carolina law enforcement agencies, are seeking to identify possible victims of child sex abuse after the April arrest of a man in Lillington.

Ronald Keith Black, Sr., 69, of 41 Newton Road in Lillington, was arrested April 29 and charged with 29 counts of first-degree sexual offense and 12 counts of indecent liberties with a minor after an investigation into the sharing of child pornography over the Internet, the FBI said in a release.

According to the FBI, allegations of sexual abuse of several juveniles were made against Black during their investigation. Those allegations date back to the late 1980s and last until about 2006. Authorities believe there may be additional victims that either have not been identified or haven’t been located.

Black has connections to Lillington, White Lake, an unknown location in Tennessee and the Florence, South Carolina area.

“That really scares me a lot to know that there is somebody like that in the community,” said Lillington parent Anna Murray.

The FBI said that Black was a leader at a Baptist church in the 1980s and is believed to have also been a baseball coach at some point in time.

Alice Davis is ministry coordinator with the Little River Baptist Association. The Harnett County group assists 50 Baptist churhces in the area and said Black did not work for them but they recommend churches do their due diligence.

“It’s disgusting and we don’t like that kind of thing but yet its so often that I was not surprised,” Davis said. “We have a church policy manual that’s put out by the state that we suggest and make available to all of our churches that they do background checks.”
