Durham elementary school teachers, students remix Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – It’s the end of the school year and that means the final tests of the school year are right around the corner.

End of Grade tests can be stressful for both the students and teachers who have been working hard to whole school year. The solution? To have a little fun.

Fayetteville Street Elementary in Durham decided to “remix” Beyoncé’s hit song “Formation” and put it on YouTube.

Glenda Narcisse, a third-grade teacher, thought the play on the lyrics was a neat idea for the students.

“We can tell them, ‘get information,’ which is also ‘get in formation,’” Nacisse said.

Some of the lyrics in the remix include, “Come on kids now let’s get in formation… I work hard, get what’s mine. I’m a star… cause I pass.”

Principal Jason Jowers said the video is the vision of what he’s trying to create.

“I try to encourage my teachers to be as creative as possible to do the things necessary in order to enhance the academic achievement of our students,” Jowers said.

While the students at the school got a chance to see their teachers get in formation, Nacisse hopes Beyoncé see it, too.

“My goal is for her to see the video, and hopefully make an appearance here at the school,” she said.

The results were pretty impressive. Check it out below:
