RALEIGH, NC – If you’re feeling cooped up Saturday, you might want to bob on down to the 12th annual Tour D’ Coop, which started in 2005 as a way for a few neighbors to show off their hens and coops.
Today, the Tour D’ Coop is a family-friendly tour spotlighting urban chicken coops, bee hives and gardens throughout Raleigh and Cary.
The event – which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – features a self-guided map of backyard coops, an eco-friendly bike route through downtown Raleigh, a coop raffle, and super sites hosting local food trucks and activities for children. Since it’s a self-guided tour, you can start the tour at any of the coops.
Proceeds support Urban Ministries of Wake County’s programs to alleviate and eliminate poverty by addressing hunger, healthcare, and homelessness within the community.
Tour D’ Coop Tickets can be ordered in advance online or in-person the day of the event from Wake County Whole Foods’ locations and Seaboard Ace Hardware. Recommended admission is a $10 donation per individual or a $20 donation per carload, benefiting Urban Ministries of Wake County.
