DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a crash in his cruiser on Saturday night, officials said.
The incident happened at Highway 70 and Angier Avenue around 9:45 p.m., Tamara Gibbs, spokeswoman for the Durham Sheriff’s Office, said in an email to the media.
“A preliminary investigation found the deputy was traveling east on Highway 70 when a driver traveling on Angier Avenue made a left turn onto Highway 70, crossing both lanes of traffic,” Gibbs said.
The vehicles then collided.
The deputy and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to Gibbs.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
