CEDAR MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WNCN) – A young man died Saturday after a 50-foot fall at High Falls in DuPont State Forest.
The identity of the victim has not been released as of Saturday night, but he was described as a man in his early 20s.
The Cedar Mountain Fire Department says the man was in an area he should not have been when he fell.
The fire department was called to the scene around 4:20 p.m. Saturday.
The incident is under investigation by the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
High Falls, a 125-foot waterfall, is located along the Little River in the forest.
The 10,473-acre forest was used to shoot scenes from the 2012 movie The Hunger Games.
