DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – The Durham Sheriff’s Office is still investigating a double homicide after a man and his teenage son were found dead June 10 inside their home.
Dewayne Greer Sr. and his son, Dewayne Jr. were found shot to death in their home in the 3700 block of Angier Avenue after a cardiac arrest call was received.
A neighbor called 911 after she saw the men not moving inside the home.
Dewanye Greer Sr.’s sister Alice Greer said she doesn’t know how this could have happened to her brother and nephew.
She’s having a hard time processing the deaths.
“Just shock and disbelief. Imagine getting the call that your only brother and his son had been murdered in their home,” she said.
She got the devastating call late on June 10.
“You cry and you cry some more,” Alice Greer said.
Alice Greer said the family has planned a family service on Saturday for the two.
“I just want them to be remembered for the good person my brother was, and the good man my nephew could have been,” she said.
The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with the funeral expenses.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators should contact the Durham County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 560-0900.
