Security guard at NC Waffle House fires back after fight escalates to shooting

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Greenville Police Department is investigating a fight that ended with shots being exchanged at a Waffle House.

It happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police say officers were called to the Waffle House on the 800 block of South Memorial Drive in reference to a report of shots fired.

Investigators say two people were involved in a fight inside the restaurant that spilled into the parking lot. Police say during the fight at least one person fired a gun.

An armed private security guard, who was at the restaurant, says she returned fire with one of the suspects.

Police say all the people involved in the fight left the area.

No one was injured during the incident; however, three parked cars were hit by bullets.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage.
