RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Dads enjoyed a free gift from the Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh Sunday.

Fathers had the chance to receive a guided tour to learn more about the beautiful nature that is contained within the park.

The family-friendly activity encouraged dads to bring kids, young and old, to explore and have a day of fun.

One local dad gave his 24 and 26-year-old a pass for the day, but was surprised with his trip to the park.

“It’s just quiet. It’s nice to hear the bugs and get away from the everyday hustle” Ernest Foster, of Holly Springs, said. “It’s just nice.”

Michelle Kranig, who surprised him with the Father’s Day gift, added, “We haven’t even been [out] for 10 minutes on the tour and we’ve learned so much about the trees, the butterflies and that’s really nice.”

Foster said a day out in nature was just what he need this Father’s Day.
