Man dies after shooting at a home in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man died after being shot in Fayetteville on Monday night, police say.

The incident was reported as a breaking and entering just before 9 p.m. in the 7600 block of West Netherland Drive, according to Fayetteville Police.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man who had been shot near the front door inside of the residence, police said.

“Responding officers detained the suspect and then administered CPR until medical personnel arrived,” police said in a media release.

The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

“The initial investigation indicates that the shooting does not appear to be a random incident and that the two individuals were associates,” police said.

Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the shooting and are requesting anyone with information, to contact them.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld, until detectives can contact his immediate family members.
