FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville Police say a man was robbed in a hotel room by a man he knew and another man over the weekend.
The incident was reported around 5 a.m. Saturday at the Baymont Inn at 1707 Owen Drive.
The investigation revealed that the victim, Douglas Fort, 57, of the 1100 block of Chestnutwood Drive, was robbed in his hotel room by an acquaintance, Fayetteville Police said in a media release.
Fort got into a fight with one of the suspects, Lee Stuart Berdaux, 26, according to police.
Berdaux’s face was injured in the fight and the two suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
“While officers were on scene with Fort taking the report for the robbery, Berdaux sought treatment at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for the injuries sustained during the fight with Fort,” police said.
Officers responded to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and apprehended Berdaux.
The second suspect has not been identified.
Detectives obtained warrants charging Lee Stuart Berdaux, of the 3030 block of Enterprise Avenue, with common law robbery, felony conspiracy, and possession of stolen property.
Berdaux was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains on $25,000 secured bond.
Detectives have obtained images of the second, unknown, suspect, and a suspect vehicle, and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect shown in various images.
