AYDEN, N.C. (WNCT) – A man was shot on St. John Road in Stokestown on Sunday night in an incident stemming from an altercation between relatives, according to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

41-year-old Danny Haddock, who was intoxicated, called his blind relative, 60-year-old Wesley Haddock, and told him he was going to come to his house and beat him up, deputies said.

Even though Wesley told him not to, Danny arrived anyway and began to assault Wesley, according to deputies.

At that moment, Wesley shot Danny and he was transported to Vidant Medical Center. He was treated and released.

Danny was arrested and charged with first-degree trespassing and assault on a handicapped person.
