MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTV) – Two people have been arrested and charged after the body of woman was found, burned, on the side of the road early Friday morning.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the woman’s body was found along the 300-block of Leonard Road around 6:30 a.m. Friday morning by a man driving by. Officials said there was a small fire still burning around the body, which was also burned.
The woman, later identified through several tattoos, was confirmed to be 33-year-old Amanda Kay Smith. Smith’s home, along the 200-block of Honeysuckle Lane, was also found burned Friday morning more than 12 miles from where her body was discovered.
Investigators say that fire was deliberately set.
During their investigation, deputies determined Smith was last seen with a man named Timothy Clarence Smith Jr. and a woman named Stephanie Dawn Hall. Both were named suspects in her murder and the arson at her home.
Early Monday morning, detectives were notified that Smith and Hall had been located in Horry County, South Carolina, near Myrtle Beach.
Warrants were obtained for robbery, second-degree arson, and first-degree murder on both Hall and Smith. Both suspects are being held in Horry County, and will be returned to Rowan County to face these charges.
