HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WNCN) — Two men were nabbed but a third is on the run after a deputies say they robbed a man and woman at gunpoint last year.
The incident happened on Aug. 8, 2015 when three men, who were planning to buy marijuana, went to a home at 4909 Madison Drive in Hope Mills, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
However, two of the men came with guns and held the pair inside at gunpoint, deputies say. The woman was forced into a closet and the man was beaten and kicked.
The male victim, Joshua Gutierrez, was later killed in a home invasion and shooting in Nov. 2015. The woman was shot during the Nov. incident.
During the August incident, the men then demanded money and drugs from the couple, deputies say.
On June 9 of this year, David Rivera, 19, of 6201 Earp Court in Hope Mills, Tyrone Judea Hall, 23, of 772 Joefield Drive in Fayetteville and Abraham Devonte’a Shuler, 21, of 6230 Twiggs Court in Parkton were charged with kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.
Rivera and Shuler were arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail and held under a $150,000 secured bond.
The remaining suspect, Hall is currently wanted for the unserved warrants in this case as well as a person of interest in an active homicide investigation, officials say.
Deputies did not say if Hall is a person of interest in Gutierrez’ death.
