CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – A  rescue from a high-rise crane took place Wednesday afternoon on West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.

Fire and emergency crews were on the scene, which was first reported around 3:10 p.m., according to a CBS North Carolina reporter at the location.

A call was made to report a repairman was found unconscious at a construction site around 200 feet off the ground.

An official on scene said the man, who had previous medical problems, was conscious when he was lowered to the ground.

He was transported to UNC Hospital for medical treatment.

The man was a repairman who was sent up to the crane earlier Wednesday when the crane developed some problems, said Lisa Edwards, a spokeswoman for Chapel Hill Fire.

The scene was near the new Carolina Square development near the UNC campus.
