One child was involved in an incident in an apartment pool in Cary on June 14, while a toddler boy was found unresponsive in a pool in Hope Mills on Monday.

The little boy in Hope Mills was found in the same home pool in the 6600 block of Carriage Crossing Drive where a baby girl nearly drowned exactly a year earlier.

On Friday, the 2-year-old boy in Hope Mills was still on a ventilator, but on Saturday officials said he had died.

A GoFundMe page that was started for the family, identified the boy as Landon Adams, who was “just shy of his 3rd birthday” when he died.

It was not clear how long the boy had been in the pool but the family was searching for him for four or five minutes when he was found in the pool, officials say.

The homeowner, Jason Adams, started CPR as soon as the child was pulled from the water. Emergency Medical Services took over and transported the child to Cape Fear Valley Health Systems where he was in the Intensive Care Unit for several days.

“Surrounded by extended family and leaning on the prayers and faith of many, little Landon returned to his Heavenly Father on June 24th,” wrote JohnAngi Day on the fundraising website.

Detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances around the child being in the pool unmonitored.

A year ago, an 11-month-old girl fell into the same pool and was placed on a ventilator for some time, officials said.

There are few details available involving the child who died after an incident in Cary on June 14.

The call came in around 7:53 p.m. to a pool at the Woodcreek apartment complex on Anderson Court in Cary.

A juvenile male under the age of 16 was taken from the pool by stretcher to an ambulance.  The boy died on Saturday, officials say.
