Man on dirt bike hit by pickup truck, killed in Johnston County

FOUR OAKS, N.C. (WNCN) – A man riding a dirt bike was hit by a truck and killed Wednesday night in Johnston County, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers responded to the collision involving a dirt bike and pickup truck on Boyette Road just after 8 p.m.

According to troopers, a dirt bike was traveling west from the driveway of Upchurch Trailer Park and was attempting to cross the road when it was struck by a pickup truck traveling north on Boyette Road.

The driver of the dirt bike, identified as John Milton Stanley, 48, of Four Oaks, was not wearing a helmet and was thrown into the windshield of the truck and came to rest in a ditch. The truck traveled over the dirt bike and came to a rest in the roadway.

The driver of the bike was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

No charges were filed in the crash.
