SHARPSBURG, N.C. (WNCN) – Selena Hope Taylor, the former town clerk for Sharpsburg, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged with embezzlement of $1,400.
Town administrators contacted the Nash County Sheriff’s Office concerning five instances of unlawful, willfully and felonious embezzlement of town funds.
After sheriff’s investigators reviewed bank records and other information, they determined that there were five transactions over an eight-plus year period of embezzlement by Taylor.
Taylor was arrested Friday without incident. She was transferred to the Nash County Detention Center where she is being held under a $15,000 secured bond. Her first appearance is set for July 5.
