Man ejected, killed in alcohol-related crash in Wilson, authorities say

WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) – One man is dead and another person is injured after a single-vehicle crash in Wilson Sunday night, officials with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

The wreck occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Tartt’s Mill Road, near Larkspur Road in Wilson, authorities said.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol’s Lt. Jeff Gordon, Wilbur Rios, 24, was killed in the crash. Rios was traveling north on Tartt’s Mill Road and went off the roadway, over-corrected and then overturned several times. Rios was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger suffered minor injuries.

Rios was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is believed to be a factor, Gordon said.
