ROBERSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT/WNCN) – A fireworks display in Martin County took a turn for the worse Monday night, sending one man to the hospital.

Sources said it happened Monday night during the firework show at East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville.

WRNS radio, which sponsored the Red, White and Boom event at the speedway, said that a technician was injured during an incident during the fireworks show.

The fireworks were canceled after the injury.

We are praying that his injuries are not too bad and that he can recover quickly,” the New Bern based radio station said in a statement on social media.

On a video from WRNS, a very short volley of fireworks are seen, but they abruptly stop.

The man’s name has not been released yet and there is no word on the man’s condition.

The victim was transported to Martin General Hospital to be treated.

The fireworks from Monday night will resume on Saturday at the speedway after that night’s race, WRNS said.
