KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — Video captured over the weekend shows waterspout off of the coast of Kill Devil Hills.
Avalon Fishing Pier posted a video of the apparent waterspout on its Facebook page on Sunday.
Waterspouts, which are basically a tornado over water, generally stay over water, but one moved onto shore in Cateret County about a week ago, causing a tornado on land.
One person was reported injured as a result of the EF-0 tornado touching down in the town of Bogue.
The tornado in Bogue last Saturday was called a “landspout,” which is a land-based equivalent of a waterspout.
