BALD HEAD ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) — A Wilmington man was arrested after he reportedly crashed his golf cart on Bald Head Island and fled the scene of the accident Sunday night.
According to Village Manager Chris McCall, the incident happened around 6 p.m. in the marina area near Transom Row.
D. Isbell Logan, 49, was driving a golf cart when he lost control and crashed into a parked golf cart totaling it, officials said.
Logan then reportedly left the scene of the accident, jumped in a nearby boat that was docked at the marina and took off.
McCall said Logan was located around 11:30 p.m. on the East Beach section of the island.
Warrants allege that Logan assaulted a public safety officer while he was being arrested.
He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Brunswick County Detention Center by the Coast Guard.
He was charged with hit and run, assault on a female, two counts of resisting a public officer, and assault on a government official.
Logan was given a $6,000 bond.
