Sailor facing 15 child porn charges allegedly watched videos aboard naval ship

Adam Hedden (Norfolk City Jail)

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A sailor is accused of making child pornography, and police say the suspect viewed the obscene pictures and videos aboard the USS George H.W. Bush.

Officers arrested Petty Officer Third Class Adam Hedden, 27, on May 15 and subsequently filed 15 charges against him for allegedly producing, possessing and filming child pornography.

Investigators say they searched Hedden’s apartment on the 200 block of Suburban Parkway and seized a hard drive, CD, a memory card and a tablet. They also seized his processing unit from his work station on the CVN 77 USS George H.W. Bush, as well as his personal computer, according to court documents.

Court papers say they discovered several videos showing a 4-year-old girl performing sex acts and being sexually abused.

Mike Maus, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy, said Hedden enlisted in 2012 and had been assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush since 2013.

Maus says Hedden remains active duty as he sits behind bars at the Norfolk City Jail.

Hedden faces two counts of producing child porn, two counts of unlawful filming of a minor, one count of using electronic means for procuring minors for obscene material and 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Hedden is expected back in court in August to appeal his no-bond status.
