CARRBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – Cocaine found hidden in a pickup truck in Carrboro has led to the seizure of more than $240,000 in U.S. currency that authorities believe was headed to Mexico, an official with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office took part in an operation with other local, state and federal agencies that resulted in 5 kilograms of cocaine HCL being seized in Carrboro.
The drugs were found in a hidden compartment inside a Nissan pickup truck.
As a result of the operation, authorities were able to develop a lead and then pursued it in a neighboring jurisdiction. The investigation resulted in the seizure of more than $240,000 in U.S. currency that authorities believe was headed to Mexico.
The investigation has resulted in multiple arrests, the sheriff’s office said.
