GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – An ex-North Carolina pastor will serve at least five years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree rape, officials say.
Charles Gregory Prayer Jr., 38, pleaded guilty to the charges Monday, according to Pitt County Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Cannon.
On March 30, 2015, officials learned of the former pastor’s alleged criminal act.
Prayer had multiple inappropriate conversations with the female victim through social media, authorities say.
The relationship ended up escalating to physical contact in March of 2015.
WITN-TV reported that the victim was a 15-year-old girl.
Prayer will serve between 5.3 years and 11.4 years in the N.C. Department of Corrections system.
Prayer was employed at Elijah’s Mantle Apostolic Ministries when he was arrested, WITN-TV reported.
