NC police department help citizens learn how to be an officer

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) –  The Wilmington Police Department will host a five week policy academy for citizens to get an inside look into being a law enforcement officer.

The class is free and will be held four Monday evenings and one Thursday for five weeks at the WPD Main Headquarters on Bess Street. Classes start Monday, Aug. 1.

Participants must be 18 years or older, live in Wilmington, complete a personal history form, and must pass a criminal history check.
