NC suspects rob cab driver at gunpoint, spark police investigation

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Police are looking for two suspects who reportedly robbed a cab driver at gunpoint Sunday night.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to 4213 Princess Place Drive at around 9:50 p.m. in reference to a robbery.

The 50-year-old male driver told officers he was supposed to pick up a fare in the 300 block of Pauline Lane, but when he arrived no one was there.

As he started leaving the area, two men flagged the driver down and asked if he could take them to McDonald’s.

While on the way to McDonald’s, the suspects told the driver to pull over in the parking lot at 4213 Princess Place Drive.

After getting out, one of the suspects pulled out a revolver and took cash from the driver. They were last seen running toward Kerr Avenue.

A K9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but were not successful.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department.
