Probation search of Moore County home leads to weapon, drug charges

CARTHAGE, N.C. (WNCN) – A probation search of a Moore County man’s home July 7 resulted in weapon and drug charges for a 51-year-old man, the sheriff’s office said.

Moore County deputies assisted North Carolina Probation and Parole as they searched the home Carthage home of Gene Edward Needham, Jr.

Deputies seized 61 grams of marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and a firearm, officials said.

Needham was charged with felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Needham was taken to the Moore County Detention Center where he is being held on a $35,000 secured bond.

Needham’s first scheduled court date is July 26.
