RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Twenty Raleigh Police officers received promotions Thursday at a ceremony at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.
Each officer and their families were recognized.
Now as a lieutenant, Rico Boyce will be assigned to the Southeast District of Raleigh, where he’s worked a majority of his 16 year career on the force.
“It’s very exciting to come back now as a lieutenant and have some supervision over officers and can groom them to come up the way that I did, interact with the community and build those relationships,” said Boyce.
In light of the turmoil between police and the communities they serve across the country, Boyce says he has many community policing ideas he wants to implement with the officers he’ll oversee.
