RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — East Six Forks Road between Anderson Drive and Wake Forest Road has been reopened after a water main broke Sunday, police said.
Officials confirmed the water main was fixed and the roadway between Anderson Drive and Wake Forest Road was also repaired. The road reopened Thursday morning around midnight.
The break, which happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, flooded the road just south of the intersection of E. Six Forks and Anderson in the 100 and 200 blocks of E. Six Forks Road.
By Monday morning the water had stopped flowing, but crews were still working to fix the main and then re-build the section of road that was dug up.
Officials had urged motorists to use Interstate 440/Raleigh Beltline with access at Wake Forest Road to go around the closed part of Six Forks Road.
