IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO — A transgender woman is accused of taking photos of another woman while she was changing clothes inside a changing room at a Target store in Idaho, CBS affiliate KBOI is reporting.
Shauna Patricia Smith, 43, is in custody on a felony video voyeurism charge, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says.
On Monday, police say a woman saw someone taking pictures of her while she was inside a changing room at Target.
“The victim noticed the subject reaching over the wall of the changing room with a cell phone taking pictures,” police wrote in a news release.
The suspect ran out of the store after being confronted. But after interviewing witnesses and watching video surveillance, police arrested Smith, also known as Sean Patrick Smith.
Police took Smith into custody on a charge of felony video voyeurism.
Detectives are trying to determine whether there could be any additional victims.
Earlier this year, Target announced a new policy that allows transgender customers to choose the bathroom of their choice.
The issue has been a hot one in North Carolina where lawmakers passed House Bill Two legislation this year indicating that people need to go to the bathroom, locker rooms, etc. corresponding with the gender on their birth certificates.
