PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Authorities have arrested a man they say robbed a Pender County man while he was selling honey outside his home.
According to officials, Travenus Jermaine Grainger, 38, was taken into custody by New Hanover County deputies Friday afternoon.
He’s charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, and communicating threats. Grainger was given a $125,000 bond.
Pender County officials said the incident happened on Highway 117 just south of Burgaw on April 30. The victim was selling honey in his driveway outside his home around 2:15 p.m. when another man pulled up his shirt and showed him a gun.
The suspect told the victim to give him all his money and his cell phone. He made the victim lie down on his stomach and to not look up until the car drove off, stating that if the victim looked up he would kill him.
No injuries were reported.
A total of $285 in cash was taken along with the victim’s wallet containing credit cards and personal identification.
