CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was robbed just off Franklin Street on UNC Chapel Hill’s campus Saturday morning, according to an alert sent by the university to students, faculty and staff.
The strong-arm robbery is said to have occurred shortly before 3 a.m. while the student was walking in Porthole Alley. According to UNC police, the man was approached by four suspects who physically assaulted him and took his phone.
Police arrived on scene and saw two suspects flee in a silver vehicle and the two other suspects fled on foot. The suspects who fled on foot were apprehended.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He told police that he did not see any weapons on any of the suspects.
Campus police said there is no ongoing threat to the campus community.
