RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The Wake County Public School System wants to fill more bus driver positions in an effort to prepare for the upcoming school year.
There are more than 75,000 students who ride the bus in Wake County and about 850 bus routes, according to the Wake County Public School System’s spokesman Bill Poston.
Most students in the county will return to school on Aug. 29.
Applicants are required to have more than a clean record, said Poston.
“They also need to negotiate with children and with parents about the bus ride. We are doing a number of things to improve service for them,” said Poston.
Poston says cameras have been placed on the buses to monitor students’ behavior.
