WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) — A young man died after his home in Wilson caught fire and burned early Sunday morning, officials say.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. at 2005 Noland Road, according to Wilson Police Sgt. Steven Stroud.
Jamie M. Hill, 25, died as a result of injuries from the blaze, Stroud said in an email.
Hill leaves behind a wife and a 5-year-old boy, who were both out of town at the time of the fire.
“As officers were arriving, Wilson Fire/Rescue Services and Wilson County EMS personnel were providing lifesaving aide to a male victim related to the fire,” Stroud said.
Images from the scene showed heavy flames coming through the roof of the home and reaching dozens of feet into the air.
The Wilson Police Department and Wilson Fire/Rescue Services are actively investigating the incident
“Preliminary investigative results show no foul play and that the incident could be accidental,” Stroud said.
