GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – A 24-year-old Dudley man has been charged in a July 23 murder in Wayne County — one of three homicides that happened in just 12 hours.
Around 12:30 a.m., Joshua Omar Forbes was found shot to death in a vehicle at a business on U.S. 117 south.
Earlier, Forbes got into a confrontation at a residence located on Bryan Boulevard in the Mar Mac Community.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew Moyers shot Forbes during that confrontation. Forbes then left the residence.
Investigators were able to locate Moyers in Dudley through his vehicle and arrested him without incident July 25.
He has been charged with murder and is being held without bond.
Forbes death was one of three over a two-day period in Wayne County.
Atiya Maddox died at Wayne Memorial Hospital after being shot around 1 p.m. July 22 near the intersection of Olivia Lane and Slaughter Street, police said.
Randy Grady, 53, of Greg Drive, was found unresponsive at the home July 22 about 6:30 p.m. in Goldsboro.
The three deaths are not related, authorities said.
