Authorities investigating after SUV found engulfed in flames in Moore County

CARTHAGE, N.C. (WNCN) – Authorities are investigating after an SUV was found engulfed in flames in Moore County Thursday morning, the Aberdeen Times reported.

Emergency officials responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on the side of the road around 2 a.m. on Star Ridge Road off N.C. Highway 22.

Carthage Fire & Rescue and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department responded to the fire.

Officials told the Aberdeen Times that no one was found inside the vehicle when the first emergency units arrived on the scene.

Within minutes of arriving on the scene, firefighters were able to bring the flames under control, but the vehicle was totally destroyed in the fire.

Officials said they are currently working to determine who the vehicle belonged to and how it ended up burning beside the road in the middle of the night.
