RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The dog days of summer are some of the busiest for mechanics at AAA in Raleigh.
Extreme heat will drain a battery faster than the extreme cold will, mechanics said. The Triangle and surrounding areas have certainly been experiencing extreme heat this summer.
The majority of AAA’s calls come in during the morning and evening rush when cars stall in traffic or overheat.
Mechanics suggest getting your car battery checked to make sure it can hold a charge and want drivers to know that under-inflated tires are more likely to blow out in the heat. It’s also important to make sure your car’s fluids are topped off and aren’t running low – those keep heat from critical areas of the car and prevent overheating.
