FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Dozens gathered in Fayetteville Friday in hopes to bring the community together at a time of heightened tensions between police and citizens.
“All we need is that one person to step up and say I care. I want to make a difference. And it starts a ripple effect,” said organizer Shereece Saxton.
Fayetteville police Chief Harold Medlock was among those who gathered.
“We all have to do better. We’re not on different sides. I think there are some circumstances where police officers could have done better. But I think there are some circumstances where members of our public could have been better,” Medlock said.
Saxton said she hopes that one person who wants to make a difference was in attendance Friday.
