Drugs, weapons seized in Moore County bust, 5 charged

CARTHAGE, N.C. (WNCN) – Moore County deputies charged five men Thursday following a drug investigation in Aberdeen.

Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on Roseland Road in Aberdeen and seized drugs, cash, and liquor.

Items seized include:

  • 35 grams of cocaine
  • 29 grams of marijuana
  • 11 oxycodone prescription pills
  • Two hydrocodone prescription pills
  • Five zubsolv prescription pills
  • 11 buprenorphine
  • Two firearms
  • Assorted drug paraphernalia
  • $2,879 in U.S. currency
  • A stolen scooter
  • A pint of non-tax paid spirituous liquor

Desmond Tyrone Cheatham, 29, of Aberdeen was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver oxycodone, a schedule II controlled-substance, possession with the intent to sell and deliver buprenorphine, a schedule III controlled-substance, felony maintaining of a vehicle to keep a controlled-substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, simple possession of schedule II controlled-substance, possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of non-tax paid liquor.

He was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.

Marco Lynn Cheatham, 27, of Aberdeen was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled-substance and simple possession of oxycodone, a schedule II controlled-substance.

Brandon Michael Bowden, 27, of Pinehurst was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver oxycodone, a schedule II controlled-substance, possession with the intent to sell and deliver buprenorphine, a schedule III controlled-substance, simple possession of schedule II controlled-substance, possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bowden was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.

Russell Goldston, 19, of Aberdeen was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintaining of a dwelling to keep a controlled-substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Russell Goldston was placed into the Moore County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond

Todd Rakeem Barnes, 26, of Southern Pines was charged with possession of less than a ½ ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barnes was released on citation.
