SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WNCN) – Tre Boston found early success with the Carolina Panthers.
A fourth-round draft pick out of North Carolina, Boston won the starting safety position halfway through his rookie season.
He then lost his job last year, only to regain it again.
He’s set to start once again this season.
“I had to make sure I was prepared,” said Boston about coming into his third season with Carolina. “Coming off the year I had last year, I’m ready to show them I’m worthy of this spot and show them I’m the right guy.”
The Florida native was a three-year starter in Chapel Hill, earning all-conference honors. His up and down career so far in Charlotte has seemed to level out.
His game is now on the upswing just in time.
“This year’s all about getting there,” said Boston of once again reaching the Super Bowl. “It’s not easy, now people know we’re a target, we’re a great team and people are going to try to attack us.”
And that’s just fine with Boston. He’s more at ease having recently been baptized and married.
His personal life in order, now it’s time to get down to the business of football.
“I’m just a better player,” Boston explained. “I’ve got a better feel for the game and now it’s just time to unleash the beast.”
