GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) – An armed robbery suspect was found shot at a Garner restaurant Saturday morning and a second suspect is on the run, Garner Police Capt. Joe Binns said.
Officers responded to an armed robbery call at Buffalo Brothers restaurant located at 7245 White Oak Road around 4:50 a.m. When officers arrived, they found one suspect suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to police, the man, identified as 23-year-old Raleigh resident Jessie Martin McLaurin, was shot during a struggle while trying to rob two contract workers who were working on the interior of the building. The workers were not employees of Buffalo Brothers, police said.
McLaurin was transported to WakeMed and is being treated for his injuries, Binns said.
McLaurin has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He has been arrested and charged 13 other times in North Carolina, according to arrest records.
A handgun was recovered at the scene and police are looking for the second suspect, who is said to have run toward the target with an undetermined amount of cash after the other man was shot.
Police said the second suspect is in his 20s,5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with a thin muscular build, possible facial hair, and short hair. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a dark long sleeve shirt.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
