NC woman accused of soliciting teen boy through Facebook

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington woman was arrested after she reportedly tried to solicit a teenager through Facebook.

According to officials, Ramesha Sharmene Armstead, 34, was arrested Thursday following a joint operation between the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilmington Police Department.

Investigators said they received information that Armstead was having inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old boy on Facebook. Officials said she arranged to meet the child at a residence in the 3300 block of Princess Place Drive. Authorities took Armstead into custody when she showed up.

Armstead is charged with solicitation of a child by computer, third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and communicating threats.

She was booked in the New Hanover County Jail Thursday and transferred to Pender County Friday morning.

Armstead was given a $55,500 bond.
