Man armed with handgun robs Cary gas station

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – A man armed with a handgun robbed a Cary gas station Sunday morning, Town of Cary officials said.

A robbery was reported at the Park-N-Shop gas station located at 421 E. Chatham St. just before 9:30 a.m.

According to officials, the suspect brandished a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money from the store clerk.

The suspect is described as being in his 20s and around 5-foot-9 and 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants, dark shoes and a black ski mask.

A man who works at a nearby business told CBS North Carolina that police had the area shut down for around an hour and nobody could go into any nearby stores or leave them. He said lots of cops showed up and a K-9 unit was also searching the area for the robber.
