WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WNCN) – No one was injured but CBS North Carolina Chief Meteorologist Wes Hohenstein is replacing several electronics and a roof after his home was struck by lightning over the weekend.
The strike on Sunday left a large hole in the home’s roof, blew the thermostat off the wall and even caved in part of the attic ceiling.
“Don’t spend a lot of money on surge protectors because none of them work,” Hohenstein said.
Hohenstein said while no one was injured, he has to replace a couple TVs, a modem, his air conditioner, part of his attic ceiling, the sprinkler system and even a ruptured gas line.
This is also not the first time his house has been struck by lightning. Long before he was chief meteorologist Wes Hohenstein, his childhood home was struck two different times in the same spot.
