NC pair nabbed after stealing security system from home, deputies say

OLD FORT, N.C. (WSPA) – Two people have been charged after deputies say they broke into a home in McDowell County and stole a home security system.

Calvin Dwight Basham, 67, and Crystal Leigh Wilson, 37, both of Old Fort broke into a home on Mudcut Road on May 20, according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.

The wireless security system –- worth $500 –- was taken from the home. Deputies say Wilson tried to have the iSmart alarm reset. That’s when deputies say the iSmart company realized it was the same system that had been stolen.

Basham and Wilson are both charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods by the sheriff’s office.
